Hello from Dawson Creek! For my first week in town, I have been treated to melting snow and mainly above zero temperatures! Yesterday I went for a nice long run, with actual running shoes on my feet instead of snowshoes… (I have to say though, all that snowshoe running really improved my running technique! I’m going to have to start a snowshoeing group here next winter)!

I ran into the rural side of town, away from the city (see above, that’s the city off in the distance). This is the flattest place I’ve ever lived- definitely a different type of scenery! I do love how bright the sun is here up north (just like in Whitehorse), it’s a very good-mood-inducing kind of sunlight.

In the distance of the above picture is Bear Mountain, and at the top of it are wind turbines! I got an up-close view of them earlier this week when I went up there to do some filming for a story…

They were actually pretty intense up close: huge, loud and dizzying to look at. Very cool though!

Back to the run, I found the actual Dawson Creek,

The creek is named after George Mercer Dawson, as is the city of Dawson in the Yukon (the only place on my Yukon bucket list I didn’t get to)!

Also on that run I saw a field full of deer, who later that evening all ran in front of the car I was in! Here’s one of the naughty little jaywalkers… 

My first impressions of the city is it actually feels bigger than Whitehorse (population-wise however, it’s not), so maybe that feeling is because the city centre here is more spread out.

My new job is awesome, I am getting the hang of teleprompters, blue screens and cameras, but it is a little surreal seeing myself on the TV!
